The most common driveway gravel, Driveway Chips are a 3/8" minus rock full of loose material that compacts into a tough base.
This product is great for any project that needs a compact chip – driveways, parking spaces, and pathways are all perfect candidates for Driveway Chip.
Bin # 25
A consistent 3/4" in size, our Fractured granite rock works well as a slightly loose pathway or driveway gravel, and does provide some drainage as well.
Fractured Rock is commonly used for “cleaning up” areas, and provides a great balance of price and aesthetics.
Bin # 05
The loosely-graded 1/2" Dark Fractured stone is perfect for landscaping walkways, loose patios, or as an inexpensive ground-cover for that extra parking space. Colour is a consistent olive-grey.
Bin # 06
Dollar for dollar, our 1" Dark Fractured is one of the best values in our yard. It offers a consistent olive-grey colour normally found in more expensive decorative stones.
Bin # 16
Our Village Creek stone is a beautiful and economical mixture of white and blue/green limestone - the 1/2" size works especially well as a hard-packing pathway gravel.
Bin # 17
The 3/4" Village Creek limestone mixture is great for covering large areas with a bit of pizzazz - this colourful stone is a beautiful accent choice as well.
Bin # 18
The biggest of the Village Creek family, the 1-1/2"–3" Village Creek also works well over large areas - try mixing it with the other sizes for an upscale riverbed look!
Bin # 07
Featuring shades of pink and blue, this 3/4" gravel is great for adding some flair to your walkways and patio areas.
Though similar in size to our 3/4" Fractured Rock, the Ocean Granite provides a unique addition of colour to otherwise dull spaces.
Bin # 22
This is the red lava rock everyone’s trying to find. Porous, powdery, and sunrise-red, this 3/4" to 1-1/2" decorative stone is the perfect landscaping accent. And this rock is the real deal: our Lava Rock is mined from a dormant volcano just west of Quesnel, British Columbia.
Sharecost is proud to be one of the only bulk Lava Rock suppliers on Vancouver Island!
Bin # 08
Perfect for landscaping projects wanting that “natural look”, our 2"–6" River Rock takes your dry riverbed to the next level! Equally great for covering large decorative areas or using a few rocks here and there to add some size contrast to your landscape.
Pro tip: combine the River Rock with both sizes of Drain Rock to achieve that authentic riverbed look!
Bin # 26
The standard gravel for exposed aggregate concrete and playgrounds, Pea Gravel is a “soft”, round rock, about 1/2" in diameter.
And because it’s so loose, Pea Gravel is not usually recommended for pathways – unless you’re planning on being barefoot most of the time!
Bin # 11
A standard, round rock used for drainage – 3/4" Drain Rock also works well for making natural looking decorative areas, such as river beds.
Try mixing with the 2"–6" River Rock!
Bin # 12
Slightly larger – and a little harder to shovel – than the 3/4", our 1–1/2" Drain Rock is another great option for either drainage or decoration. It also provides slightly better drainage than the 3/4".
Bin # 09
A coarse, general purpose sand. Great for bedding water pipe or irrigation lines in trenches, turning into sand bags, and laying underneath paving stones.
Because it’s coarse, Bedding Sand will not compact, and is not suitable for sandboxes – try the Masonry Sand instead.
Bin # 04
A washed, coarse sand – generally used in the creation of concrete. Since Concrete Sand is similar in consistency to the Bedding Sand, it also works for filling and levelling.
Bin # 03
When paired with cement, our fine, washed Masonry Sand is ideal for grouting or brick laying, or for levelling inflatable pools.
And since it’s clean and fine, Masonry Sand works great in sandboxes – the kids will love it!
Bin # 10
Our Navvy Jack is a select mixture of aggregate and clean sand, designed to be paired with Type-10 (Portland) cement when mixing concrete.
Don’t forget: we sell the cement powder and rebar, and rent all of the tools you need to make mixing and placing concrete easier.
Bin # 20
Road Base is built to pack. A dense mixture of rock and sand made for strong, hard-packing bases, Road Base is perfect for use under paving stones (under the bedding sand layer), retaining wall blocks, poured concrete slabs, or roadways.
This product is also commonly referred to as ‘3/4" Minus’, ‘3/4" Crush’, or ‘Road Pack’.
Bin # 15
Black Garden Mix is our highest quality soil, featuring a rich mixture of peat, chicken manure, and soil.
Perfect for flower beds and vegetable gardens alike – just add plants and bone meal!
Bin # 13
Similar to our Garden Soil, our Premium-Grade Lawn Top Soil also features chicken manure, peat, and soil, but has a higher content of fine sand.
The addition of sand improves drainage, and makes it easy to spread in thin layers – a perfect choice for establishing or top-dressing lawns.
Bin # 14
The Screened Dirt is ideal and economical for filling the bottom of large garden beds, or planting hardy vegetation, and you can always mix it to make your own garden soil.
Bin # 24
New to our yard as of Spring 2012, the Dark Bark is a 2-year composted fir/hemlock bark mulch with a rich, dark-brown (nearly black) colour.
Priced right in between the Fir Bark Mulch and the Fish Compost, it’s great for your garden and your wallet!
Bin # 23
Our cedar-free bark mulch is a rich mixture of reds and browns. The medium/fine size chips are made up of a mixture of fir and hemlock. Great as a garden-topper: helps retain moisture and gives a clean, tidy look.
Bin # 21
A nutritious mixture of fish-offal, sawdust, and soils, our Fish Compost is a beautiful rich black, and works brilliantly in place of bark mulch.
Our Fish Compost is also certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute.

Bring in your pick-up truck or trailer: we have a skid-steer loader and trained operators on site every hour that we’re open.
(Note: we cannot load your truck if you have a canopy or tonneau cover installed – sorry!)
Don’t need much? You can bring your buckets and garbage cans too – we stack shovels by the front door.
We provide a fast delivery service for all of our products – we can usually deliver on the same day the order is placed.
Our three dump trucks have different capacities so we can handle any amount of material. Our smallest truck carries up to 3 yards, the next truck holds up to 6 yards, and our tandem-axle truck carries around 12 yards (or nearly double that with the pup).
Please refer to our delivery page for pricing and complete details.
There’s no minimum order on bulk materials when you pick-up or book a delivery – buy only as much as you need.
Feel free to bring in any container you like to haul our materials away in – if you can shovel into it, it’s fair game!
If you’re picking up sand or gravel from our yard, you might find that your truck can’t take as much material as you need (it’s heavy!).
For example, if you need a yard, but can only carry a half-yard at a time, just take two trips – we’ll mark your receipt so you can come back at your convenience for the other half.
First, measure the length and width of the area that you would like to cover (in feet).
Second, decide how deep you would like the coverage (in feet or inches).
Finally, use our yard calculator – just enter your numbers and let the computer do the work!
Read the Sharecost Gravel School article for detailed info on how to choose the correct bulk products for your project.
Most of our bulk materials have a large volume price, either offered per tonne or as a percentage discount.
This price is offered when you order large amounts of material (12-24 tonnes or 10+ yards) and have it delivered in our tandem-axle dump truck.
You can find all of the details here.
